The Singles of Marietta is about one year old. The group was started to give singles an opportunity to enjoy activities in the Marietta area. The Singles meet for dinner on Thursday nights at local resturants. Sometimes, they also enjoy miniture golfing, bowling, picnics and other activities.
Caroline Hinton gave a little history of the group:
Back in Feb of 2008, Jeri Nine, Jason Haislip and I all worked next door to each other. We had talked many times about the fact that their was no singles group or activities in this area. At the time, we were all single, and trying to meet new people. The three of us decided to call a few other people that we knew were single and have a dinner meeting to discuss possible ways to start a group. The three of us along with 3 others had the first meeting at the Galley. We set a meeting night of Thursday at 6 and all set out to tell other singles about our dinners. It just blossomed from there. The only single oringial member is me. Jeri got married last December to a man she met through her work, Jason no longer attends the meetings and that leaves me. Some of the other beginning members are Henry and Carol G. I believe they both attended the second meeting we had and have been active along with me ever since.
